April 2021 – COVID-19 Letter

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Saturday Program and we hope this email finds you well.
We wanted to email you regarding concerns in the community involving the steady increase of COVID 19 cases in Osaka and the growing discussion surrounding the potential ‘4th Wave’. IN keeping with this we wanted to take the opportunity to inform of the precautionary measures we continue to implement to ensure the safety of the students whilst they are in our care.
All students and parents are now entering the school via the East Gate (bus gate) only where their temperatures will be taken. Upon entry all Elementary students are directed to the sinks outside the gym where they thoroughly wash their hands with soap and water. Parents of EC aged students are still allowed to accompany their children to the classroom, however they need to walk through the grounds of the school (to both enter and exit) rather than along the inside of the buildings. EC students are required to wash their hands with soap and water at the EC sinks before entering their classrooms. Spray is also available for all students upon entering each of the buildings.
All students, parents and staff are required to wear masks correctly (i.e. so it is covering both their nose and mouth) upon entry. Anyone not wearing a mask will be refused entry to the school and school grounds. Visitors to the school are all expected to have their temperature taken and to sanitize their hands using the alcohol spray provided.
As fruit and lunch times are the only time students are not wearing their masks, we are now using large plastic standing dividers to further protect the students at times when they may be more susceptible to close contact. We are also continuing to vertelate the school through consistently having windows and doors open in the classroom, and the windows open in stairwells and along the corridors of the main building.
Students will continue to wear masks during PE and when they are outside at Recess and/or freeplay times both in the gym and outside. As the weather changes and becomes warmer, this policy will be reassessed, however for at least April this rule will continue to be enforced.
We ask you for your ongoing understanding and cooperation in keeping your children at home should they display any signs or symptoms similar to those linked to COVID 19.
We place the safety of our students and staff at the heart of all our decisions based on the policy and guidance from Osaka Board of Education and OYIS regular program and aim to always keep our community safe. We are more than willing to talk with you should you have further questions or concerns.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.

November COVID-19 Updates

Fortunately, our school community has remained safe throughout this time. Even so, the increase in cases is a
significant cause for concern. Over the past weeks, we have observed a trend of growing case numbers across the
city. As numbers rise, the risk to our community and the need to be vigilant increases. We hope you can continue to
support us as we work to keep our school community safe.
